| Biography | I adopted Bob
(aka Peggy) from the Himley Guinea Pig Rescue on the 24th of October
2002. She was originally born to a guinea pig breeder, but was unwanted because her feet
are a bit different to most pigs. So she went to live at the rescue and called
my name from there! Naturally quite a skittish pig, Bob settled in
fantastically and got on very well with everyone (after her initial plot to
take over the world failed anyway). She was a feisty little character and had a
charming little popcorning routine. Her confidence grew loads from when she first arrived and
she happily engaged in free-ranging and liked to 'take 5' in the pigloo in the
corner of the room, squawking irritatedly if anyone tried to disturb her. Bob required a lot more reassurance than any of the others because of her natural nervousness. She was never too keen on new people initially, even if they came bearing veggies which soon eradicated any hint of suspicion from the others! I had to make sure (not that it was ever an effort!) that I spent a good amount of time giving her a cuddle and some veggies every day, or she started thinking she needed to keep an eye on me again. She was essentially a pig's pig and loved nothing more than hanging around with her furry chums, grooming them and trying to pinch their veggies. Bob lived a happy, healthy life, but died suddenly one morning. I'd seen her just 15 minutes before I found she'd died, sitting up and having a nosy around as normal. There was no sound indicating any pain or struggle coming from the cage in between, so hopefully she went as quickly and peacefully as it seemed. Bob was a really sweet little pig and will be very much missed. Bob was Pet of the Day on November the 21st 2004. | ||
